Blank Canvas

Throughout every town or city there are these small blocks of vacant land that nobody really knows what to do with.  It's these sites that can test a designer's creativity to produce a concept that provides an economical use of the land while at the same time injecting a little bit of vitality.

On a busy section of Waterworks Road in Brisbane's north, there is such a vacant piece of land.  It sits forlornly with a For Sale sign hanging limply on a temporary fence begging for someone, anyone, to see it's potential.

As a concept design, the image below is not the only solution for a site such as this, but it is important to understand that good design should be able to take advantage of any positive attributes of a vacant site and evolve them into something that is both practical and sustainable.
